Braids and African mats are not lacking in assets. As protective hairstyles, they protect the hair from external aggressions. But that's not all: you don't think of them spontaneously, but they are also powerful allies in the event of high heat. A must to adopt urgently in summer.
Summer is here ! However, there is no question of suffering while sweating under your mop of hair! So in case of high heat, we immediately opt for braids or African mats, in order to clear the skull as much as possible. The types of possible hairstyles are legion, we have selected two:
African braids over
Wire braids have been popular in Africa for a long time. Concretely, we take a portion of damp hair (usually we braid after a shampoo), we apply a moisturizing product, or even an oil to seal in the hydration, we detangle, then finally we roll up and tie the thread at the root before going up the length. When the entire portion is covered, fold the thread back on itself to have a piece of thread sticking out, then tie a knot. This operation is repeated on all portions of hair.
Good to know, you can connect the different braids together to make more or less original hairstyles!
Only one pitfall to avoid with wire braids: do not tighten too much at the root at the risk of causing traction alopecia or patches.
Glued mats
Untangle the hair and make a straight parting. We tie one side while braiding the other side (and vice versa). A strand of hair is selected and divided into three separate strands. We then braid upside down, always starting with the wick which is on the side of the forehead. We pass the branch in the middle and then we do a normal turn. We then take the branch that is on the side of the forehead, but before passing it to the center, we add a small lock of hair. Ditto with the branch which is on the side of the hair, before passing it to the center, we also add a small lock of hair. We finish in a classic braid (but always upside down), that is to say without enriching, and we stop before the ends. They are attached with a fabric elastic or a small metal pin. In the latter case, the tip is pierced with the pin, then twisted and wrapped around the braid. Once we have finished one side, we do the same on the other side.
